Amiga 1500 - Day 4 of the backup Protext FAIL!
I don't like to admit failure but in this instance I just have to
concede. I dragged out the boxed copy of Protext together with a
set of disks from Amiga Shopper and studied the manual and guide
and followed the installation to the letter.
So did it work ? Did it **ck !!!
I have no idea why when I use this installation from this cloned
drive, Protext will not work. I eventually fixed everything else on
the installation, but sadly not Protext. I ran the same install on
all my other emulator configurations and Protext worked on each
and every one. I even codged a mix and match of a couple of the
configs and it worked. I can load the configuration and simply boot
into the disks and they work. But if I fire up the Workbench and
click the disks it falls over straight away.
Very odd. Very odd indeed.
Anyhoo I decided to close down this project and move on. Whether I
ever have another go, I have no idea. Probably will return, I do
generally. So annoying.
Going thro the mags I discovered TurboPrint and MUI. I use 3.8 on
MUI and eventually sorted the little conundrum. Its all in the
'END IF'... so funny.
One amusing discovery today was just how many copies I have of the
Protext cover disk from Amiga Computing. Quite incredible. And so
I conclude this little exercise and tomorrow have a date with the
very lovely Roberta Smith. PD with a lemon twist... Yummy.
