ScuzzBlog: Diaries March 2022

Entry 23rd March 2022: Post 1: Amiga PD - Anglia Public Domain.

Amiga PD - Anglia Public Domain.

It is possible to acquire little PD gems if you are prepared to
forage through the various auctions. Take this little batch I
found recently of Anglia PD disks. It wasn't the disks that was
of interest, it was the two small guides created by Anglia for
the disk sets. Quite incredible really.

The two small booklets are a window into the wonderful world of
Amiga PD. They give an incite into the workings of the PD machine
in supplying and advising on the software provided within their
disks. Anglia obviously were proud of their operation and willing
to catalogue together disk sets and produce guides for them.

I have a number of Anglia PD disks stored in disk boxes and when
looking for various applications it is not unusual to find it on
an Anglia disk.

Anyhoo ... having received my fresh batch of Anglia disks I took
some pics for the blog and copied the contents to the emulator.
Whilst I find the whole PD scene quite fascinating I rarely pick
up disks to see whether any application is useful. I think we all
know what things interest us and I doubt there is much on an old
PD disk that is going to stimulate today. However, there is
nothing wrong with firing up chess and doing battle with the
computer for an hour. Otherwise disks tend to have historical
value and as such are nice to have... and at times quite amusing.
