Entry 18th March 2023: Post 1: Miniature and Magnetic board games.

Miniature and Magnetic board games.

Having discovered I hadn't actually got a proper chess game in
the house I ventured onto the Bay and started looking at what was
on offer. I became fixated by the smaller versions of games given
the limited amount of space I have here for storage. Quite soon
I not only had acquired a very nice miniature wooden chess set
but also a whole pile of magnetic miniature board games.

The wooden chess game is very well made and relies on little peg
style pieces that slot into holes on the playing board.

The Snakes and Ladders was just too amusing an item to pass up
and the colours make this magnetic game just a fun thing to have.

The compendium of nine games was a real find given that it pretty
much covered all the games I was looking into. Most of the classic
board games are featured. I can imagine these things are very
popular on camping holidays. Small, compact, lightweight and not
requiring electricity.

The last game is Cluedo which I just couldn't resist. It mimics
the original board game though uses coloured tokens for weapons
and characters. Again totally magnetic and barely the size of
an A5 envelope.

I placed a matchstick on the images to give an idea of scale.

It is not my intention to start collecting these things. There
really are any number on sale. Still a interesting side interest
to the collection and one that gives you all the playability of
the big games but with a smaller 'form factor' if I can call it
that. Also very cheap I have to say. Just nice to have.
