Lightwave - Talk about staying power.
I was just about to put those CDs away for the Amiga PD software
featured yesterday plus my two Lightwave CDs and I got to thinking
if the software for Lightwave was still being produced. Man was
I surprised.
Lightwave has its origins in VideoScape 3D and Aegis Modeler. It
was locked into the Video Toaster and NewTek and released with the
Video Toaster VT4000 in 1990. However a company called IML created
a dongle for Lightwave called a LightRAVE or 'Rave' for short which
emulated the toaster so allowing the software to be used on Amigas
like the A3000.
It followed that Lightwave 3D 3.5 was released in 1994 and was the
first version of the software not requiring of the Toaster.
1997 saw the release of Lightwave 3D for the VTNT.
What follows is quite amazing really ..
1999 Lightwave 3D 6
2001 Lightwave 3D 7
2006 Lightwave 3D 9
2010 Lightwave Core announced but canceled
2010 Lightwave 10
2012 Lightwave 11
2014 Lightwave 2015
2018 Lightwave 2018 and on 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024.
So I guess they ain't done yet.

lightwave-3d-1-0'
I was more than a little surprised I have to say. My versions
appears to be Version 5.0 plus 3.5.
Anyhoo I put the CDs away now. Magic stuff. I did make a fresh
copy of the files on the emulator.
