Entry 10th November 2018: Post 02: GENIUS - Hand Held

GENIUS - Hand Held

This is a computer ... seriously! It has all the component elements
of a computer. It has a display, an interface, memory and problem
solver using electronic circuitry. The only difference is that it's
simply a game and not really intended as a computer.

The game was made by Milton Bradley in France I believe in 1981.
The models were the 4147 and 4998. The size of it is 175x110mm and
has an LED display. Amazingly the display is responsible also for
the communication and therefore maybe just the first touch screen
display. To play you simply move the squares around to achieve set
goals set by the colour display of the squares. I don't have the
instructions but I kinda worked that one out for myself.

I don't seem to be able to make it work but then I haven't tried
very hard. I will have another go.

Quite amazing really when you open up and find the insides of a
small computer tucked away. Very clever.
