Amiga WB3 - Useful Tools.
I realise that as I spend my days mulling over what new computer
to acquire I am neglecting somewhat the retro and the website.
My issue of the computer is not helped by my need also to obtain
a smart telephone, a device I have never owned, and I have no
idea how I am going to bring myself up to speed with touch screens
and apps etc.
Ar hum ....
Anyhoo as I listened to the endless rain pounding my roof I reflected
on happier times when computer life was simply the Amiga 1200 and
Workbench 3.0. I don't recall there ever being a periods of heavy
stress with the A1200, as every night as I returned from work I
was always happy to be mucking around with Workbench 3.0.
Anyhoo as a bit of a treat to myself I thought I would feature on
the blog a few of my favorite applications that require very little
in the way of explanation. I have used these tools so many times
over decades of use and still do. I would be lost without them.
Today's treat is IconCopy. Simple as you like. Forget loading icons
into an editor and saving as the respective icon type. Simply fire
up IconCopy, drop into the left pane the icon you want and then in
the right pane the icon you want to change. Doesn't matter if it
is a file, tool, disk icon. The software only changes the image.
Sounds simple, and it truly is. I have IconCopy resident on the
Workbench desktop as it is always in use.
