Whilst editing my pictures for the blog regarding TANK I noticed that the icon colours for IconCopy and FastView were incorrect. I became concerned that the VideoDAC may be a fault. The oddity was that the mouse pointer was red when normally if the colours are devoid of red the arrow would go grey. Didn't make sense. I shouldn't have worried. I had completely forgotten that the last time I used the computer I was attempting to use a full colour icon of the lovely Kirsten Imrie using Iconian. I ran into problems in trying to retain different palettes for different icons. With a little help from some guys on the forums I installed two programs from Aminet... 'Collector' and 'FullPalette'. Sadly they didn't work and I realised there can only be one colour palette and if your icon needs differing colours it ain't gonna work. Consequently I had left the Workbench palette pref to multicolour and hadn't flipped it back. So no colour issues. I have been reflecting of late just how crap modern games are. There is truly very little variety and there seems an eternity between the releases of games. So much so I sit on a game for maybe a year before another suitable title becomes available. Incredibly when I look back at the state of play back in the TANK era of late 1994 to early 1995 I was absolutely spoilt for games. The teaser reviews that came with each months cover disks always featured big titles. I do miss the fast and furious releases of Amiga titles. We were definitely spoilt rotten in the day. I feature just a few I found myself playing this last few days on TANK. Brought back a lot of happy memories and showed just how narrow minded creators are today, lacking any imagination for variety. If you ever need to check the colours of your Amiga to make sure they are all working just get a copy of ProTracker and use the setup cus it has a set of colour sliders. OK I'm good. Happy days.
