Casio TV-470 - In the House.
I have recently been watching the TV series House on DVD and noted
that the good doctor was taken to watching a small 3 inch Casio
EV-680. Got me thinking that other than my original Sinclair mini
TV I don't actually possess a portable pocket TV. Time to put that
to rights.
I couldn't obtain a 680 without importing from the States so in the
end I settled for a Casio TV-470 circa 1990 and older than my Amiga
1200. I don't plan on expanding my portable pocket TV collection so
the Casio shown here is most likely the only one I shall be getting.
Has a 2.2 inch colour LCD screen, receives an analogue signal so a
pretty dumb TV given analogue ceased to exist some considerable
while back. It is possible to hook up a modulator of sorts but really
I have this for collection purposes only.
On the top of the machine is a 3.5mm coaxial antenna port which will
take a small TV aerial connector and so permits in theory all your
early retro consoles and Amigas that connect via the RF. Not sure what
Amiga Workbench looks like at 2 inches. Not gonna try.
Anyhoo I was just keen to add one of these to the collection and so
having done that I can put the thing to bed. As to Dr House, well,
this is the second time I have tried to watch this series. You can
see how far I got as series 4 is still in its cellophane outer cover.
Unfortunately this time around I got as far a the first episode of
series 2 before junking the CDs back into the library. It was obvious
that in each episode if a diagnostic was occurring before the final
five minutes it wasn't going to work. And pretty well each episode
had someone go into a spasm, shock or near death within fifteen
minutes. Plus quite idyllic residences had some deathly virus or
vermine/insects living undetected. The final straw for me was the
soap opera intro of previous wife to add a reoccurring theme. I just
got bored. But then its old now 2005-2012. Nice TV though.
