Entry 24th September 2019: Post 01: Amiga Fractals.

Amiga Fractals a touch of the Mandelbrots.

I was very use to creating images from basic maths. Anyone that had
used Logo and Turtle Graphics will appreciate the power of numbers
to create pictures. May sound a bit archaic but intrinsically using
calculations to move a logo pointer around a screen gives you total
control of the finished work. The real fun comes when you set the
process in motion to create stunning random effects.

Enter Fractals in what ever form or another and suddenly the Amiga
becomes a multicoloured almost organic image creator that takes ink
blots into the digital era. The results were often truly stunning.
I didn't know anything about Mandelbrot prior to this period but
for a good while it was all anyone seemed to be interested in.

Anyway, if you like the idea of Fractals and want to have a play
you most likely can download the cover disks I show here and maybe
even get the software or magazines. Be aware that Craft is an
extension to AMOS so you will need that software.

One other form of digital artwork that was almost as popular was
morphing and whilst I never really dabbled myself I did use the
animation tools of DPaint in much the same way. The Amiga was and
still is a fantastic tool for mucking around with animation and the
art of moving graphical imagery. So why not have a play.
