ScuzzBlog: Diaries September 2021

Entry 6th September 2021: Post 1: Oh No! More Lemmings.

Oh No! More Lemmings.

If you don't actually know what the game Lemmings is then sadly
there really is no hope for you. Sorry.

In trying to get the cute little lemmings to their home you have
to guide them through a series of obstacles. ' The trouble is that
lemmings are notoriously accident-prone and will march to their
deaths unless prevented' . And that is where you come in.

Devised by Psygnosis the game became an instant success and went
on to become one of the most prolific games for the Amiga. When
Commodore released the Cartoon Classics and launched the A500Plus
they shipped a free copy of Lemmings to keep players active.

The game spawned a number of variants and was soon adorning the
pages and cover disks of all the popular rags. Amazingly the disks
themselves offered very little copy protection and were soon being
copied and circulated throughout the community.

For me it attained a standard that made it so common as to be cliche.
I have disks strewn all over the place. The game is so easy to play
without very much guidance. It becomes addictive if you so permit.
I doubt that there is anyone that has used an Amiga that doesn't
know of these little fellas. I had an animated Lemming on my Amiga
from almost day one.

Odd little adventure for Psygnosis given that their other titles
are a little more obscure. They truly were one of the best games
creators for the Amiga.

Anyway grab yourself the game... or not. ' OH NO! '

Oh No! More Lemmings.
