ScuzzBlog: Diaries September 2022

Entry 29th September 2022: Post 2: OK time for a late roll call.

OK time for a late roll call.

I don't use the older machines during the hot periods and so after
the summer it is time to dust down the kit that I have on standby
and see if they are still working. These are the computers besides
my main Amigas that I reference when looking into operating systems
and disks and the like.

So here was what I discovered. Fingers crossed. [ scuse the fuzzy
pics, no tripod to hand ].

01: Tatung Einstein [ check ]
02: Amstrad 1512HD20 [ check but needs new batteries ]
03: Checkmate 1500 [ check ]
04: PCW9512 [ check ]
05: Acorn 5000 [ check ]
06: Amstrad 6128 [ check ]
07: Amiga 1500 [ check ]
08: Amstrad 8256 [ check ]

Clear:

Next up the Amiga 500 with the ViperCD [ check ]

The Amiga 500 has an internal card from the era which is a Viper520CD
33MHz with 1 x 2.5" IDE and 2 x 3.5" connectors for CD ROM. The ROM
is the 3.0 ROM and also has a mini chip slot.

The speed is quite staggering for an A500 of the day. It has 8MB RAM
and 512K Slow and 512K Chip RAM. There are two partitions to the
internal 2.5" IDE. She is a real treasure and survived the summer.

Such a relief. I didn't test the C64 machines or the BBC B or Master,
or the Acorn computers. Other machines are not set up to use though
can be plugged in with little effort.

I have no need to test my main Amigas cus they get used so often.

That was the ground floor. Tomorrow I'll do upstairs.

Other more ancient stuff like the Pets, Apples and Sharp etc have now
been mothballed and will never be fired up again. More kit gets the
glass case treatment each year. It's not worth taking the risk.

Happy days.

OK time for a late roll call.
