ScuzzBlog: Diaries September 2026 Entry 7th September 2026: Post 1: Life Noble Notebooks - Japanese paper wizards. Life Noble Notebooks - Japanese paper wizards. Being a big fan of the written word, when I discovered Life Noble Notebooks I just had to have one. Amazing product. The production process involves three presses that are the last in existence. Made by Osaka ShigeYoshi for the notebook company that has been in existence since 1946. Paper is stacked before being sliced into the required book size. The covers are colour coded depending on the notebook. The paper then fed through a machine that sorts and inserts markers to suit the number of pages per book. It is at this time that the giant press smooths the notebooks flat. The pages are then hand sewn together. yes hand sewn. All pages are pressed and then stacked before having their binding glued. Once complete the books receive their signature black binding. The notebooks are all hand sewn and cut to accurate measure. The colour coded stacks of books are then stored before sending out into the world. In my mind there is no substitute for pencil and paper to record my daily activities. I have spent a lifetime with paper and my journals entering my thoughts. I so enjoy drawing and scribbling down ideas. I was very grateful to the supplier of the notebook who also sent a paper rubber. Just at the very time my last rubber died. Not exactly the case as I have two packs waiting in the wings. I have used a good number of my 4B pencils this summer and have but five left. I will need to restock very shortly. And so the Life Noble Notebook is added to my collection. A worthy addition that whilst not an electronic device does provide a very significant aid to recording data. Life Noble Notebooks - Japanese paper wizards.
