ScuzzBlog: Diaries September 2026
Entry 26th September 2026: Post 1: Windows PCs - Time to simulate.
Windows PCs - Time to simulate.
I set off this morning with the intention of checking all of my
networked PCs and taking pics. After only doing the first Win95
machine and struggling to take pics I decided to give up with the
pics as it was going to be way too great a challenge. I couldn't
be arsed in truth. PCs are never my favourite subject. Let me say
things were all 'ticketyboo'.
Anyhoo not to be dissuaded in partaking of some PC fun I ventured
onto the PCjs simulator to have a go at pretending to be using
an old Windows based PC. The PCjs Project is an open source sim
that runs in java and is available on GitHub .. see pcjs.org.
Remember that this is a simulator and not really an emulator, It
lets you pretend to use a whole raft of old PCs and systems and
includes my old favourite cp/m.
Windows95 is just like the real thing and is great fun if you
know your way about. I was going to take some pics of the IBM
PS/1 but instead found the simulator just as good. The machine
sits behind me here on the floor under a desk and is a real pig
to take pics of. She was working fine.
Anyway I have done with the PCs. Boring as ever.
I wasn't on the blog yesterday. I had produced a full feature on
the desk calendar for Sports Illustrated from 1992 to 2002 to
cover the transition from Amiga 1200 to Windows 95 given that I
had the diaries on the desk that whole period. In the end I
decided images of Elle Macpherson, Heidi Klum, Daniela Pestova
and Rebecca Romijn whilst perfectly suitable on a desk during
my Win 95 era, were not truly relevant to the blog. In the
end I just feature the makers logo 'Ink Group' and leave you to
imagine the delights of the photographs. That NSFW thang is a
real issue today. Sorry.

Sorry no Sports Illustrated included
